We have an immediate opening for a research associate in Analytical Sciences. Our multidisciplinary group maintains the technology and expertise necessary to provide innovative solutions to challenging problems in drug discovery at our state-of-the-art facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Analytical Sciences collaborates across all platforms to comprehensively characterize molecules ranging from traditional small molecules to novel biotherapeutics and their effects in biological systems. A core function is also to apply new technologies to benefit the Novartis research community.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist specialized in protein mass spectrometry. The individual will be responsible for executing a variety of experiments in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of proteins and peptides. A primary emphasis will be on the rapid development and application of MS based methods to support protein-protein interaction studies. Some support of primary structure determination and post-translational modification characterization may also be required. Method development may involve the application of novel separation schemes, chemical labeling and creative use of mass spectrometry. The modern MS instrumentation provided in our facility include linear ion trap, MALDI TOF-TOF, quadruple time-of-flight, triple quadrupole and ion trap-FT MS.
Experience and Education
Minimum requirements BS/MS with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the application of mass spectrometry to protein and peptides. In-depth knowledge and experience in sample preparation techniques of proteins and peptides are desired. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential. Skills and experience maintaining and operating high resolution mass spectrometers would be most desirable.
