Student Travel Award to the ASMS Conference
Application Deadline: 5 PM EST Monday Feb 20, 2012
The Greater Boston Mass Spectrometry Discussion Group is pleased to announce the 4th annual GBMSDG graduate student travel awards to the 60th ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics. This year's conference is to be held in Vancouver, BC, May 20-24. Two awards of $1,000 each are to be named.
Eligibility
Applicants must be registered graduate students at a university/college in the greater Boston area, and current members of GBMSDG. The student's thesis research advisor must also be a member of the GBMSDG (register online). Applicants must first submit by 2/3/12 an abstract directly to the ASMS website, www.asms.org. Student awards are contingent upon ASMS abstract acceptance by the ASMS conference committee.
Applications
Students should send by email:
- A copy of the previously submitted 2012 ASMS conference abstract on the research they will present
- A curriculum vitae
- A brief cover letter discussing career plans or related considerations
- In addition, a letter of recommendation must be sent separately by the student's thesis advisor
All materials should be sent to the attention of Dr. Thomas Trainor, of the GBMSDG executive board at: awards@gbmsdg.org. The deadline for the receipt of all materials is 5:00 PM EST Monday Feb 20, 2012. When the student receives an acceptance notification for a poster/oral abstract by ASMS, please forward this notification on to awards@gbmsdg.org to complete the travel awards application.
The application reviews and awards selection will be undertaken by an independent awards review committee, separate from the GBMSDG executive board. The two award winners will be announced at the April meeting of the GBMSDG.
