We have an immediate opening for a research associate in Analytical Sciences. Our multidisciplinary group maintains the technology and expertise necessary to provide innovative solutions to challenging problems in drug discovery at our state-of-the-art facilities in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Analytical Sciences collaborates with all research groups to comprehensively characterize molecules ranging from traditional small molecules to novel biotherapeutics and their effects in biological systems. A core function is also to apply new technologies to benefit the Novartis research community, where we strive to make lifesaving therapies a reality.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with experience in mass spectrometry. The candidate will work as part of a team using mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy to understand the metabolic mechanisms associated disease processes and mode of action as well as identify metabolic markers of drug efficacy/safety. While the primary focus of the successful candidate will be sample preparation and data collection, he/she will be involved in all aspects of conducting experiments from study design to data analysis and interpretation.
Experience and Education
Minimum requirements: A BS/MS with 2+ years of relevant experience in the analysis of drug and endogenous metabolites in biological matrices. In-depth knowledge and experience in sample preparation techniques is desired, as well as a willingness and intest in learning new methodologies and technologies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential. Knowledge of NMR spectroscopy is a plus, but not necessary.
