Instrumentation Specialist-Small Molecule Mass Spectrometry

An experienced mass spectrometrist is needed to provide support to the mass spectroscopy facility in the FAS Division of Sciences. This individual will be responsible for training Harvard researchers to use the Core's mass spectrometers and high pressure liquid chromatographs. Additional responsibilities will include: discussions with scientists relating to experiment and project design, execution of these experiments and communication of the results, providing technical support to researchers, troubleshooting and maintaining the instruments, creating and maintaining user and instrument maintenance databases. The individual will also carry out analysis on submitted samples as required.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
A MS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology, or Engineering with two years of additional experience or a BS in the same fields, with five years of additional relevant mass spectrometry and chromatography experience is required. Experience in metabolomics or drug discovery environments is highly preferred. The selected candidate must be able to work independently, be self motivated, have a willingness to learn new techniques, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and have mechanical aptitude.
